Basic Goodness Residency
Nine-Month Residency with the Shambhala Monastic Order
at Gampo Abbey
October 15, 2018 – July 12, 2019
**Please note that the Basic Goodness Residency has begun, and we are not accepting further applications. Information on the next monastic residency will be posted in 2019.**
As part of the monastery’s role in supporting good society, the residencies at Gampo Abbey provide an opportunity to immerse yourself in an atmosphere of wakefulness. Participating in a residency is making a commitment to working with groundlessness; it is unlike any other experience offered in the Shambhala mandala. You come to a residency not to escape the world, but to open your heart to it.
Residents will create a culture of sanity through practice, study, training, service, and community life, grounded in meditation. All areas of our atmosphere are guided by our Shambhala and monastic lineages, so residents can embody the vision of the Buddha.
Whether you stay for one residency or choose to explore your connection to monasticism for a longer period, we hope that an experience of living at Gampo Abbey will be a powerful step in your journey of wakefulness.
