Volunteer Digital Media Assistant

Volunteer Position – Off-Site

Gampo Abbey is recruiting a volunteer off-site Digital Media Assistant. This role will collaborate as a team with the Director of Gampo Abbey and the Office Coordinator to implement the digital media strategy by maintaining our limited social media platforms and our website. As a Buddhist monastic community, we limit our personal engagement with social media so we need someone to help with these links into the world.

Responsibilities 

Creating content for social media and scheduling regular weekly posts.

Integrating newsletter campaigns with social media.

Maintaining documentation for ongoing media campaigns.

Implementing regular improvements to the way we engage with various audiences through online platforms. 

Skills required 

• Thorough understanding of social media platforms.
• Good eye for design.
• Familiarity with tools such as Canva, WordPress, Constant Contact and Bitly.
• English writing skills that match Gampo Abbey’s audiences.
• Flexibility and capacity to work on time-sensitive projects.

Commitment

Commitment will include a one-month probationary period when both the Abbey and the candidate can assess the smoothness of the fit. After the initial strategy development stage, ongoing maintenance is expected to involve approximately 4-6 hours per month.
