Volunteer Digital Media Coordinator
Volunteer Position – Off-Site
Gampo Abbey is recruiting a volunteer off-site Digital Media Coordinator. This role will collaborate as a team with the Gampo Abbey Director and Office Coordinator to develop an overall digital communications strategy and carry out that strategy. The goals of the strategy will include a general improvement of web presence, integration of email campaigns and social media, and improving engagement with various audiences through online platforms.
Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with the Director to manage digital communications campaigns.
- Manage all posts and monitor all social media platforms (currently limited to Facebook and Vimeo)
- Manage Gampo Abbey’s cross-platform engagement including email campaigns, social media postings, and links with other blogs in Shambhala
- Assist in the development of online advertising strategies as required and caring out those strategies as part of a collaborative team.
- Communicate with various audiences in a timely manner.
- Using digital marketing tools, analyze data across platforms and make recommendations for any changes.
- Make all tools, protocols and resources easily accessible to team members. Document the work on an ongoing basis for sharing with Gampo Abbey Executive Committee.
- Keep all security protocols updated on the full range of online tools. This includes documenting any changes in logins.
Skills required
- Thorough understanding of social media platforms.
- Good eye for design.
- Writing skills that match Gampo Abbey’s audiences.
- Ability to work independently.
- An understanding of digital communications analytics
- Flexibility and capacity to work on time-sensitive projects
Commitment is for six months which will include a one-month probationary period when both the Abbey and the candidate can assess the smoothness of the fit. After the initial strategy development stage, ongoing maintenance is expected to involve approximately 2 hours per week.
