Our Library

Ani Migme in the Gampo Abbey libraryResidents and visitors agree: one of the best features of Gampo Abbey is its wonderful library.

Knowledge and understanding of Buddhism arises from several sources including studying the texts and interpretations of traditional texts. Gampo Abbey houses an extensive library with more than 3000 published titles. The library is used for three primary purposes — general interest browsing by residents and visitors, support of study programs like shedra, and increasingly as a site for primary materials for those interested in doing research.

In addition to published materials like the complete published works of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the library holds a large collection of transcripts by other rinpoches including Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, and Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. Work is underway to collect and develop an electronic library of original translations as well as information on Buddhist teachings on the Internet.
